LUFTWAFFE M-43 FIELD CAP

   The famous German visored field cap was first issued in 1943, following the success of the SS camouflage version introduced the year before. Modeled on the short-visored cap long worn by mountain troops, it was an immediate success on all fronts.
     The blue-gray wool model was worn by Luftwaffe air, ground and parachute troops. It had a fold-down cold weather flap to cover the ears that was secured by 2 small aluminum buttons at the front.

Unlike modern caps, these caps are not adjustable. To order a cap you need to specify size. Don’t be embarrassed if you don’t know your hat size — in this day of adjustable one-size-fits-all baseball caps most of us never think about it.
